Wow, these are interesting times to be sure!
Coronavirus Memes are going wild, the NBA is cancelled and schools are closing all over the world and transitioning to E-Learning while students are stuck at home in quarantine.
With kids missing that recess and PE time I wanted to make sure you have some resources to keep your students (and yourself) active and healthy.
One of the most important things you can do for you and your families mental health and physical health during this time is make sure you stay active and get at least the CDC recommended 60 minutes of activity each day.
Check out the video below or scroll down to the links to see my favorite ideas and resources for getting active at home.

Hi Ben,
I teach K-4 P.E. in Illinois and P.E. is still continuing to be done virtually. I am feeling like I am “running out of gas” so to speak with ideas of what kiddos can do at home with no equipment. We have done some things with sock balls, etc. but it gets old…fast! First of all, thank you so much for your post about PE @ Home Resources! I will be looking through this to hopefully be able to “scrap” together lessons for the rest of the year.
Thank you for all you are doing to help us!!
Hang in there J! Hopefully this will be over soon and we can resume some type of normal schedule.
Continue to follow us for more ideas! Thanks for the kind words!
This is amazing.
THANKS FOR SHARING

Glad you’re enjoying the resources!
Thank you SO MUCH! This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been teaching group PE virtually since March and my routine/videos were getting stale. You have absolutely helped relight the fire of creativity, dude thank you! You have so many resources and you may have already mentioned this one but if not, Group HIIT website has incredible videos/workout routines and for a fun/silly throwback I linked up with Sit and Be Fit’s youtube channel. My middle schoolers call it the new #GamerWorkout lol. Thanks again so much man for all this!
Hey VJ,
Glad you’re able to use the resources! We will have to check out the gamer workout…sounds like fun!
Stay safe!
hello~~
I m a PE teacher in mid school at south korea. these contents on your website are very interesting. Can i introduce these to my children as well as techears ?
Hey Hyun,
Please feel free to share with students as well as teachers!
Hope you enjoy the resources!
this help-ed me out alot
Glad it was helpful for you and your students!
I am loving all your resources! I got thrown into teaching remote K-6 PE only 2 weeks before the school started (I’m the music/science teacher). Luckily, in a past life, I was a personal trainer, so I’m not a complete novice, but it has definitely been overwhelming and you have made me not want to quit my job! What I need to know now though, is how do you make your amazing videos? What programs do you use and do you have any tips for a tech novice?
Hey April,
Check out this note from Ben:
For the majority of my videos I use my cell phone (like the ones where I’m teaching – I normally just put my cell phone up on a tripod)
You can see a breakdown of all my tech gear (cell phone mount) and other stuff I carry daily here:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/backpack/
For the Follow the Leader Series (like the Jump Rope Videos) I used a nicer camera and made it more professional using a program called Final Cut Pro X.
You can see a detailed breakdown of the entire process of making the videos and the animated GIFS at the post below:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/pevideo/
Hope that’s helpful!
S.O.S.
I and a K – 6 PE teacher who was just quarantined to my home for 14 days because the other PE teacher tested positive.
So now I have to teach virtually from home.
The children are AT school IN their classrooms.
They do not have access to any PE equipment because we had to lock that up as well.
Please send links to things I can do – from home – with children in school – in their main classrooms – with no equipment.
ugh
Oh No Rose!
Sorry to hear about your situation…
Below you will find a like to some ideas Ben recently posted on the website:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/teaching-during-covid-social-distancing-and-virtual-pe-lesson-ideas/
There are tons of ideas teachers can do virtually…hope this helps!
I’m finding everyone is pushing the fitness aspect. I teach K-5 and kids are used to and need games. I know skills are important but I can’t find anything with games we can play with social distancing. There are always tons of fitness but after 4 weeks the kids are looking at me like really all we are doing is exercises. Sure I did R,P,S but there has to be something else out there. Any suggestion and thanks for all you do
Hey Kelly,
We understand your frustration…
Ben has just posted a blog post discussing some of the activities and strategies he finds useful.
https://www.thepespecialist.com/teaching-during-covid-social-distancing-and-virtual-pe-lesson-ideas/
Hope this helps!
watching the coach wood video showed me a lot about what i can do
Hey Dallas,
Coach Wood has some awesome resources. Glad you could find something useful!
Do you have any video resources specifically for an online health curriculum?
Hey Rachel,
We don’t teach health specifically, although we do try to incorporate Health concepts into all of the activities that we do – especially our Fitness Unit, which you can check out below:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/fitnessgram/
Sometimes the schedule works out to give me a random class coming twice a week for an extra PE class, if that’s the case we do a little health integration with them, which I’ve blogged about at the link below:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/health/
Hope that’s helpful!
Hello,
I was looking at the sworkit website that was suggested in your video. Definitely intrigued by the website. I had a question in regards to “how to” upload the custom workouts created to google sites or google classroom? a platform our school is utilizing for the 2020-2021 school year. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Hey Devan,
The workout you create can be downloaded as a PDF file. You can take that file and upload it to Google sites or Classroom for your students.
You can also create the work out, save it, and send students the link.
Hope this helps!
This is a fantastic list of resources! Thank you for compiling them all in one place!
Awesome! Glad you’re enjoying the resources!
Do you have any social distancing games for 2nd/3rd grade?
Not yet, we’re doing some research and looking for stuff currently
i like this exercise video it helps me worm up
Very fun
Excellent work
My favorite Physical Activity is pull up.
I liked a lot of them and the were fun.
Hey Makana,
Thanks for the feedback!
Hey all,
I have also spent a lot of the time during isolation creating my own youtube videos for my school too. I have about 30 videos up now all about 20 minutes long with a different activity each day! Boxing Monday, Sports Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Yoga Thursday and Dance Party Friday!
You can find them at PE with Average Josh!
Hey Josh,
Thanks for sharing, we will have to check it out! Sounds like a blast!
hi
I did exercise 20 minute by watching http://www.sworkit.com
I like doing this PE workout because it is fun and it keeps me moving.
i like the activites
Thanks Anthony, glad you enjoy the resources.
Hi there.
I’m a member and have loved using your resources in my classes. We have done the Fastest Class Challenge the last few years. I’m curious if you have advice to make a Fastest Family Challenge while we are all at home.
Hey Jackie,
Are you looking for advice for your students families or your family? Either way try to modify the best you can. If you have the space to do fastest class then use the space. If you don’t have counters you can use a tally sheet, coins, or something small you have a bunch of to keep track of progress. If students don’t have the space to run they can challenge themselves with different exercises instead of running (most jumping jacks challenge).
All in all, my advice would be to modify the challenge based on your situation.
Stay Safe!
Hi Ben!
I just signed up as a member last week. Not sure where to ask this question so I will start here. Your follow a long videos are awesome! I was wanting to use just one video or one video topic at a time for my at home pe activities. Is it possible to break these lessons up into smaller “chunks?” For example, I would like to give a link to students just for the ball handling videos. On another week give just the link to the jump roping. Third week just soccer skills, etc.
I know if I give them the link to everything at once they will be overwhelmed with information. What are your thoughts on this Ben? I know you are likely to be very busy like the rest of us trying to get in the groove with this online learning curve! Thanks for creating such a wonderful resource!!!!
Hey Doug,
Thanks for reaching out and we are glad you are enjoying the resources.
The videos we created are a paid product and we provide them as a whole resource. If you’d like to edit them yourself and put them on a protected school site for students you would need to do that yourself by downloading them in the Follow the Leader Videos section.
The forum link is below:
https://www.thepespecialist.com/forums/forum/follow-the-leader-videos/
I hope this provides you some insight, if not, feel free to reach out again if you have questions.
Hi Ben, love your stuff and have been sort of following you for years – watching your presentation through connectedPE right now… do you have any regular P.E./skills/sport based resources that are more appropriate for high school? I teach girls/coed PE in ON, Canada and these are the areas we are most struggling with; as you mention in your show there is TONS of Fitness, but not all kids want this or will do it – also, it seems like there is quite a bit more for elementary/middle school but not for adolescents who would be more challenging to engage from a distance. Thanks for everything you do, your stuff is AMAZING and I am sure your students absolutely love your classes!!!
Hey Lauren,
Thanks for reaching out! Glad you’re enjoying the resources.
Our content is more designed for elementary and some middle, so I would suggest extending the content we have for your high school students. They probably wouldn’t need the skill development as much, so you could jump into the gameplay and provide feedback based on strategy.
If you can’t find resources you can adjust our site I suggest using social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to connect with PE teachers at the high school level to see if they have resources that have been successful for them.
Hope this provides so answers. Have a great day!
Thank you for your helpful video. It is easy to follow and the links are great!
Hey Maria,
Glad you’re enjoying the resources!
Stay safe
Marcus
This is such an amazing page of resources. I have used many of your links to get my google classroom up and moving. Thank you! Do you have any good advice/links/resources on what to do for Earth Day at home?
Hey April,
Glad you’re enjoying the resources during these difficult times!
As far as Earth Day resources, we don’t have specific resources pertaining to Earth Day. My suggestion would be to tailor anything you have/found toward an Earth Day theme.
Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for giving us access to your wonderful teaching and resources. I am an Australian teacher currently trying to put together PE work that can be done at home and found your website and YouTube channel and its has helped so much. We are in the very early stages of staying at home over here and this has helped give me some direction of what I can do with the kids while they are at home.
Thanks again!
Hey Sarah,
Glad the tools and resources are helpful as you prepare for distance learning.
What a tremendous resource! Thank you so much for a very concise collection of virtually all of us need to provide distance learning!!
-Grateful in Gilroy, CA
Hey Gina,
Glad you’re enjoying the resource!
I think this is a good source and that it will definitely help me stay fit during quarantine. Also I love how there is many different work outs you can do to stay fit.
Hey Isaac!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind words!
I think this is a good source and that it will definitely help me stay fit during quarantine.
Hey Ben! I’ve been a follower for many years now. Love your stuff! Anyways this P.E. from home situation is driving me crazy. I’d love to send out some of these links but we are now being questioned on copyright laws. Can I send or use all/any of the links without worry by myself or principal that it won’t come back in a lawsuit?
Hey Stacy! Any links on this page are public. No need to worry about copyright. However, some of the google drive links at the bottom are shared by other teachers. So you would have to double check with the owner about the use of their content.
Thank you so much for all of your amazing ideas and resources. This is especially helpful with our worlds current situation and learning being done at home. As a physical education teacher I so want my students to keep active with new ideas and you’ve helped me find new resources!
Thanks!
It’s a tough time for sure – glad it was helpful!
Hi Ben,
Thank you so much for taking the time to send out these great resources for us PE teachers who are looking for ways to support parents at home with their kids and to keep them active.
I can’t wait to share some with my families. Homework next week is going to be the Continental drift with my primary kids and they are going to love it!
Thanks again!
Awesome! Love that one
I knew you would help us out, I use your ideas all the time! We were in the middle of a dance unit, so I put the remaining dance routine in Google classroom, so many loved it! Do you find that some of the boys dislike this unit? What is your response?
Anytime someone says “Do we have to dance” I respond like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/Be6WlzCDg1c/
Thanks so much you rock!
Ben, thank you for all of your time and effort to put this together and share it with us all for free too! So many great ideas to keep kids fit and learning over this stay at home. You are appreciated and stay well friend!!
Sure thing – do the same. We’re all in this together.
Thanks for this. This is highly relevent to our HPE programmes here in NZ.
Sure thing – Glad to hear that!
The information is always outstanding and creative! Ben’s video and online skills are top notch and I’m using more of his videos than ever to help during this social distance learning!
