What’s up friends!
I hope your new year is off to a great start, I felt like a good heart to heart was in order, so I made a video which I hope you’ll check out below. I’ll cover a few things:
- A big THANK YOU for watching and supporting this site
- Details on how you helped give $500 to an awesome organization this year
- A review of 2016
- Some goals and focuses of 2017
I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your attention. I know you’re busy and spending time here and supporting the site is time that you could be spending elsewhere. Thank you for the feedback, the Tweets, Facebooks and emails. Thank you for buying stuff that I make and signing up for the Membership.
Truly grateful for you guys and without you the site wouldn’t exist.
I try to work generosity into my personal life and so I naturally gravitate towards companies that are generous with their resources as well. I wanted to donate some of the profits from the site to a worthy cause and I can’t think or anything more worthy than Ezekiel Ministries.
It’s a local non-profit that I have personally volunteered for as a mentor and advisor for the past 3 years. They do awesome work and are making a big impact in the lives of lots of at-risk students in Columbia, SC.
Thanks for your part in allowing us to help them out!
A big focus for 2016 was to launch the Membership section and I spent a good percentage of my time working on creating curriculum resources for members. Mostly I created a bunch of station signs, E-books, Tutorial Videos, Unit Plan Samples and Management Systems. You can get more info on what’s available here.
I also tried to send out a valuable email each week with a quality PhysEd tid bit to keep you thinking, reflecting and pushing towards providing awesome PE programs for your students.
One of my favorite things about 2016 was presenting some PhysEd Hacks at a few conferences, which leads me to my 2017 Goals.
Some of my goals for ThePEspecialist in the next year
- Continue to send out weekly emails with thoughts and resources that are valuable for teachers
- Create another E-Course
- Create 3 more E-books for the Membership (Unit Samples, Curriculum Guides)
- Present at at least 3 conferences
Go make 2017 Awesome!
The new year is a great time of year to set some goals for yourself personally and professionally, don’t let it pass you by without taking advantage of it.
Also, if you haven’t planned out the rest of your school year you might want to take 15 minutes and plan it out.
This year I used took some advice from Tim Ferris and reflected on 2016 with the goal of repeating the 20% of things that gave me the most fulfillment and axing the 20% of things that drained most of the life from my soul. Just a simple way to implement the 80/20 rule. I think it’s a simple but powerful way to approach the new year. You can hear Tim talk about it on this Podcast Episode.
Looking forward to a great year – have an awesome first week back to school!
Have Fun and Teach On!
