What’s Up Phys Ed Fam!
In this post I wanted to share a fun PE Warmup Activity that’s a great way to practice locomotor movements and introduce new exercises to your students.
We use this same type of activity idea in our Parachute Lessons as well and call it Parachute Fitness, but this is a fun way to do it with Hula Hoops or Polyspots in open space as anytime PE Activity or Warmup before a PE Lesson.
For the activity we used our 25 Exercise Poster Resource to create a slideshow game where kids move around in open space practicing different locomotor movements and when the music stops they will do the exercise that corresponds with the color they are closest to.
Check it out in the video below:
As you can see this is a simple, but fun way to work on moving in open space, practicing different locomotor movements and also equipping your student with different exercises they can use to focus on different components of fitness.
Variations and Modification Ideas:
- Play the game while dribbling a ball
- Change up the locomotor to make it more challenging (backwards, fast, slow, high, low etc)
- Add more exercises
- Have your kids do a skill challenge instead of an exercise
The Color Me Fit Activity Guide and Slideshow
You could create your own type of activity using this same concept, but if you’d like to save some time 🙌🏻 and use our Color Me Fit Activity Guide and Slideshow, you can find it in any of the locations below:
- Our Teachers Pay Teachers Page Here
- Our Membership Resources Library
- Also included in our Parachute Resource Pack as well
Thanks for checking out this post!
